Boy Meets Dog (& Has a Blast!)

Last time I brought Frankie home for a shelter-vacation, Mark was away on a business trip. I, of course, was spamming him with photos of Frankie all weekend and kept telling him how much he would like him. Last weekend, once Mark was finally home, we went and snatched Frankie out of the shelter for another afternoon of adventuring. I couldn’t wait for Mark to meet this big hunk of goofy loving!

04Frankie’s not always the most outgoing dog when it comes to forming relationships right off the bat. He takes about 15 minutes to warm up to you – but then he recognizes you from then on, greeting you with tail wags and “please give me rubs!” body leans. I was worried that Frankie’s lack of enthusiasm for meeting Mark initially would make it tougher for him and Mark to bond. Luckily, a hike in the woods together was all these two needed!

Mark enjoyed Frankie’s “go with the flow, up for anything” attitude. He immediately noticed Frankie’s silly demeanor (and comical lack of coordination!). The icing on the cake was when the two discovered a creek together. Both could look for fish, skip rocks and cool off in the refreshing water. Can you say match made in heaven?

Two peas in a pod, these two! Frankie is still looking for his perfect buddy to come adopt him and give him as many adventures as his heart desires. Mark and I agree – this pup is too good for people to keep passing up!

Breaking News: I’m a Water Dog!

A few weeks ago my foster mama shared with you some pictures of me in the water not looking too hot. I had just fallen right in and got startled and immediately put on my Eeyore face because I didn’t know what was going on. She thought I would never like water again. Turns out she was wrong, which she discovered on an especially hot day after an especially long run. I, Johnnie Cash, am a water dog.

swin01Not only do I enjoy the water, I actually SWIM!

swim08Okay so confession time: I actually will only get in if it’s really warm and I need to cool off or if I’m going after a ball. If it’s too cold out I am a bit of a wimp. But if I need to take a dip after a nice run, find me the closest creek and I’m in!

Sizzlin’ Summertime Blues

It is HOT these days. Too hot for my liking, and definitely too hot for Otie’s liking.

My general cure for excessively hot weather is to stay inside, but for a dog that’s got too much energy to just be lazy with us all day, that wasn’t an option this weekend. So we headed to the next best place to be on a hot, humid summer day: the water.

No better way to cool off, wouldn’t ya say? Honey Bunches loves the water, so this was a welcomed treat for him. I have a feeling it’s going to become a summer time ritual for Otie – but hopefully with his forever family!
