Staycation With Paco

My work with Paco might have ended a few weeks ago, but I have been lucky enough to have him back in my life recently. I am dog sitting him while his family is on spring break! Ten whole days of just me and Paco time – I am in heaven! I am grateful that he is super easy to take care of: he is okay home alone and with just about thirty minutes of exercise a day, he loves to lounge around and sleep. It’s been so fun acting like he is “my dog” the past six days. It seems to be good timing that last week I wrote about fostering Lady Bug without worrying about the actual care, and this week I am here caring for Paco without him being a foster. Here are some photos from the time we’ve spent together so far:

I sure do love having a pup to adventure with again… though I definitely won’t complain when my life goes back to not being planned in eight hour intervals!

Guess Who’s Here!

I have a house guest for the week! Does this big guy look familiar?

That’s right. Otie is hangin’ with us for the week while his dad is out of town. He’ll be bouncing back and forth between my house downtown and my parents house in the ‘burbs since it’s a lot of work to hide him from my landlord keep track of him while I’m running around all weekend. I was pretty nervous bringing him to my house because he can be barky and anxious and I didn’t want to drive my roommates nuts, but he’s actually done really well! And my roommates are enjoying having a dog around.

It’s nice having him around again. I missed him! He’s also still perfect when I bring him to work (whew!). photo 05 photo 04

I’ll tell you guys about how the week goes. We have some adventures planned for this weekend (shocking)!

SNOOD Life

There is a trend sweeping the doggy nation, and it comes in the form of tubular neck scarf – for dogs. Known as a snood, these scarves make the perfect cold weather accessory for your pooch. Don’t believe me that folks everywhere are dressing their dogs in these neck warmers? Check out Our Waldo Bungie’s post about it from just a few days ago (one that I didn’t see until after I started writing this!) or any of Two Pitties in the City’s recent posts!

We all know that the key to staying warm during the winter is to cover up your extremities, mostly importantly your head. Since many dogs won’t put up with wearing a hat, a snood to cover their neck is the perfect compromise to for those cold-sensitive areas not sheltered by a coat or jacket. What I also like about snoods is the fact that they’re (I think) more comfortable and free for dogs to just wear around the house.

When Charlie came to stay with me, his mom sent him with his Sirius Republic snood. While I’d seen so, so many of my online doggy friends rocking their snoods, I’d never had one for a dog myself. On that first chilly afternoon together, I stuck Charlie’s on him and didn’t take if off the entire time he was with me.  He’s still got thin hair and he’s a tiny little thing, so I’m always worried he’s too cold in my house (considering I always am), and the snood was the perfect solution. . . not to mention it was ADORABLE!

Whether we were inside on the couch watching a football game (see Monday’s post) or braving the cold outside, Charlie had on his snood. As you can see, it did not restrict his playfulness or range of motion one bit!

If you live somewhere cold, I highly recommend you invest in such a versatile piece of doggy clothing!  It’s pretty much a guarantee that your pup will look irresistibly cute in it!

Remember That Time I Said “Adventure”?

It seems Charlie had other plans, or maybe my three-day weekend induced laziness just rubbed off on him. Ever since about 7:30 pm Sunday, Charlie and I have been nothing but a pile of cat napping blobs. The temperatures plummeted Sunday night, so between that and the fact that we had roughly nothing on the agenda Monday, we found it completely reasonable to stay in our pajamas for the majority of the day (well, me in my pjs and Charlie is in his Snood).

There aren’t many things better than a dog who follows you around and sleeps whenever you stop moving. Charlie decided to grace me with the old man side of his personality for this stay, as opposed to the puppy side that his mom tells me is quite rambunctious. I wouldn’t have minded the puppy side, but getting to lay low on a day off is so welcomed!

Hope you all had a nice day off work if you were lucky enough to have the holiday!  For those of you who didn’t get the day off, sorry for rubbing it in :-).

He’s Baaaaaack!

Otis is back at the PLF household – BUT only for two weeks while his dad is out of the country! Yep, it’s only temporary. Did I scare you!? Sorry. It’s nothing but happy reminiscing and catching up here for the next week and a half until R comes back from Thailand (I know, right). My parents and I love it! It’s like we picked up right where we left off in August. He’s already fallen victim to dressing up in my festive costumes. . . :-)

So he’ll pop into our posts every once in a while for the next few weeks. We’re hope you’re as happy to see him back as we are!
